REP BENSON COMMENCES DISTRIBUTION OF 3,500 5KG TINUBU RICE TO CONSTITUENTS

The Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Defense, Rep Babajimi Benson has commenced the distribution of the Renewed Hope food palliative sponsored by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu last year.

‘I am happy to announce to the good people of Ikorodu that we received ours last week and we have commenced distribution immediately’, he stated.

According to Benson, ‘Late last year, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced that the Federal Government would be distributing palliative items to federal constituencies in Nigeria through their Representatives’.

Explaining further, he said, ‘We received 350 Bags of 50kg Rice through the Ministry of Agriculture and were rebagged into 5kg bags of 3500 pieces, to be able to touch more households’.

The federal lawmaker explained that, the distribution process was through Churches and Mosques, thereby, a total of 150 Churches and Mosques were selected across the Constituency and 3000 bags shared amongst them. Same was supervised by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture

Similarly, two individuals were invited to the presentation ceremony to pick on behalf of the churches and mosques.

We were reliably informed that the remaining 500 Bags will be shared via the I-Care Foundation online nomination process, using Volunteers to help distribute to various recipients in their local government areas to avoid subjecting beneficiaries to the pain of picking at the constituency office.

Benson expressed appreciations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the gesture, stating that the palliative came at the right time for his constituents both Christians and Muslims who are currently fasting.

Concluding, he urged Nigerians to continue to persevere and in the spirit of Ramadan and Lent pray for a greater Nigeria, under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
