The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon Adebisi Adeola Banjo has commended the initiative of the Lagos State Government ‘Ounje Eko’ Sunday Food Market, an initiative by the Lagos State Government to address the challenges posed by the global food crisis.
Banjo gave the commendation on Sunday when he visited Odogunyan Grammar School venue for Ikorodu North LCDA’s
‘The ‘Ounje Eko’ Sunday Food Market is a commendable social intervention initiative spanning all the 57 LGs and LCDAs in Lagos State. It aims to ensure easy access to affordable food supplies for all residents’, he said.
Accompanied by key members of the Ikorodu North LCDA administration, including Prince Niyi Odugbesi, SLG; Hon. Princess Abimbola Adaramola, Councillor; Hon. Sulaimon Adewusi, Supervisor for Information; Hon. Basirat Adewumi, Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; and Hon. Ogunbela, Supervisor for Agriculture, Banjo visited the market location in a show of solidarity with residents of the Council area.
The Council boss equally expressed confidence in the initiative, while pledging that plan was underway for his administration to support the initiative within the Ikorodu North LCDA.
‘ I have full confidence that this initiative, spearheaded by His Excellency Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, Governor of Lagos State, will significantly alleviate the burden of rising food costs in traditional markets. Plans are underway to ensure that nearly every household in our LCDA benefits from this weekly market’.
‘While the inaugural edition experienced minor challenges, I am reassured by the dedication of the market personnel to address these issues promptly. I urge the residents of Ikorodu North LCDA to remain patient and cooperate with the state government and market authorities to maximize the benefits of this program’, he added.
‘Furthermore, our administration is fully committed to supporting Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu’s vision of improving the welfare of our people. We will deploy all necessary resources to ensure the smooth execution of this initiative’, he concluded.
