Some disturbing pictures of the unfriendly learning environment of schools and classrooms in some schools in Ikorodu part of Lagos have surfaced on the social media platforms.
The pictures, posted on some whatsapp platforms and facebook pages show many students sitting on stones and on bare floors in some public schools in Ikorodu.
According to a whatsapp user who gave his name as Orlaniyi-01 simply wrote, ‘This is Ipakodo Grammar School’. Shocked at the dilapidated school facilities, members of the platform decried the state of the school environment in Lagos state, prided as the state of excellence.
Another concerned stakeholder admonished, ‘Holders of public offices ought to have children in public schools. A state policy on this is long overdue’, he said.
While many concerned residents are still battling with the reality of these pictures, another user informed that, ‘Many of our schools are not in good conditions at all. United and Ayangbure are worse than what we can see in these pictures’.
Residents of Ikorodu wondered why Ikorodu is lacking so much in Lagos state’s vision and mission statements; To transform Lagos state into Africa model Mega City that is safe, productive and functional. Poverty eradication and sustainable economic growth, through infrastructural renewal and development.
