
The National Association of Ikorodu Division Students (NAIDS) officially ushered in a new era of student leadership with the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of its 7th National Executive Council and Parliamentarians.
The event took place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Isiwu in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), bringing together student leaders, stakeholders, community leaders, and dignitaries from across Ikorodu Division.
The ceremony marked the formal handover of leadership from the outgoing administration to the newly elected executives, led by Comrade Awolesi Ekundayo and the incoming Student President, Senator Balogun Lateef.
The event commenced with an opening address by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Babatunde Adewale Abigail, who welcomed guests and applauded the achievements of the outgoing leadership.
In her speech, she emphasized that leadership is more than holding a title.
“Leadership is not about title but about service, integrity, and impact,” she said.
She encouraged the newly inaugurated leaders to embrace their responsibilities with dedication and commitment, urging them to work towards moving NAIDS to greater heights.
Delivering his remarks, former Vice Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Dr. Oladunni Aruna, advised students to remain focused on their academic pursuits while acquiring additional skills that would prepare them for future opportunities.
He urged them to stay encouraged, be responsible citizens, and take ownership of their roles as leaders. Dr. Aruna also assured the student body of his continued support and mentorship.
Another keynote speaker, Dr. Bisiriyu Samson, congratulated the newly inaugurated executives and charged them to promote unity among members of the association.
He stressed the importance of prioritizing student welfare and preparing for future leadership opportunities.
According to him, student leadership should be impactful and serve as a platform for personal development and societal contribution.
He further announced that the NAIDS President and Secretary would become members of the Ikorodu Division Development Committee (IDDC), giving them an opportunity to represent the interests of students at the divisional level.
Dr. Samson noted that the positions would expose the student leaders to numerous opportunities, including employment prospects and developmental engagements.
“Work in unity so that you can achieve the best for the students and maximize the opportunities available to you,” he advised.
GOODWILL MESSAGE FROM HOST ASSOCIATION
In her goodwill message, Comrade Ikimot Adebisi, host of the 7th NAIDS National Inauguration and representative of the Ikorodu North Students Association, congratulated the newly sworn-in executives.
She encouraged them to lead with unity, accountability, dedication, and vision while ensuring the welfare of those they were elected to serve.
Comrade Adebisi also appreciated the commitment and sacrifices of the outgoing administration, acknowledging their contributions to the growth of the association.
OUTGOING PRESIDENT REFLECTS ON ACHIEVEMENTS
One of the highlights of the event was the address delivered by the outgoing National President, Comrade Ogunbowale, who presented a comprehensive recap of his administration’s achievements.
He highlighted several developments recorded during his tenure within both the student community and the wider Ikorodu Division.
According to him, the successes achieved by his administration were made possible through the support of traditional rulers, community leaders, local government chairmen across the division, members of the House of Representatives, and other stakeholders.
“These achievements would not have been possible without the support of our leaders, royal fathers, government officials, and stakeholders who stood by NAIDS throughout my tenure,” he stated.
The outgoing president also expressed gratitude to his family, colleagues, and supporters for their unwavering encouragement and assistance during his time in office.
Addressing the incoming administration, he congratulated Comrade Awolesi Ekundayo, Senator Balogun Lateef, and their team, charging them to build upon existing achievements and take the association to greater heights.
He urged them to invest their talents, time, treasures, commitment, confidence, and courage into the growth and development of NAIDS National.

The official swearing-in ceremony followed, with the newly elected executives and parliamentarians taking their oath of office and pledging to serve the interests of students across Ikorodu Division.
