Yesterday, 15th February would go down in history as the first time in history that Supervisors and Special Advisers to Local Government Chairmen in Lagos State would host a joint event under the umbrella of the Lagos State Supervisors and Special Advisers Forum.
This commendable feat was Ikorodu Division (LSSIKDF) by the Ikorodu Division Forum of the body was marked with special award of recognitions presented to elected political office holders across Ikorodu Division.
Chief among honourees at the event were the Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Othwr Financial Institutions, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Defense, Rep Babanimi Benson and a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye.
Also honoured at the well-attended event were all the six Ikorodu Division Council Chairmen, who were recognized specially for their individual achievements.
They were, Hon Wasiu Adeshina, Executive Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Adeola Banjo, Executive Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA and Hon Morunrayo Gbadebo Alogba, Executive Chairman, Ijede LCDA.
Others were, Hon Wasiu Agoro, Executive Chairman, Imota LCDA, Hon Sulaiman Kazeem Olanrewaju, Executive Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA and his Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA counterpart, Builder Sesan Daini.
Welcoming guests to the historic event, Kazeem Showemimo, Chairman, Lagos State Supervisors and Special Advisers Forum, Ikorodu Division (LSSIKDF) stated that the event was a celebration of re-union, love, peace and harmony.
He commended the cordial relationships existing among Council Chairmen in Ikorodu Division, noting that the symbiotic relationship was partly responsible for many developmental projects being witnessed across the Division.
In his keynote address as Chairman of the occasion, Engr Amid Adekunle Oduborisa stated that the event was a testament to the dedication, hardwork and invaluable contributions of our Supervisory Councillors and Special Advisers in overseeing the specific departments within their various council areas.
Oduborisa also commended Senator Adetokunbo Abiru and Rep Babajimi Benson for making significant difference through their dedication and service to Ikorodu Division.
He concluded by charging the Supervisory Councillors and Special Advisers to work in collaboration with their respective Council Chairmen and be instrumental in formulating policies and implementing projects that will address the needs of the people.
A major highlight of the Award Night were the twin commemorative lecture delivered by the duo of Dr Saheed Ibikunle, Special Adviser to Senator Adetokunbo Abiru on Constituency Matters and Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, Director-General of I-Care Foundation.
The event was graced by some of Ikorodu Division Royal Fathers namely, Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Basiru Aremu Sotonwa and the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and some other traditional chiefs.
