The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiy Adeshina has been honoured for exemplifying outstanding Leadership in Local Government administration.
The honour was bestowed on the council boss by the Lagos State Supervisors and Special Advisers Forum Ikorodu Division, during the body’s 2024 LSSIKDF Week and Award Night held yesterday.
The event, which was graced by all Supervisory Councillors and Special Advisers across Ikorodu Division local council areas.
In his brief remarks after receiving his award, Adeshina commended the Supervisors and Special Advisers led by Hon Kazeem Showemimo for making history with the event, being the first-of-its-kind in Lagos State.
‘A gathering like this, is a big achievement. I want to commend all of us for making history together’, he said.
He also advised the Supervisors on the need to be ambassadors of their respective council areas in their various wards.
‘My advice to the supervisors is that they have to make sure that they bring the programmes of their respective Local Governments to the grassroots.They should attend ward meetings, LGA meetings and also consult with various political leaders in their domains. This will go a very long way in helping our council’s achieve their programmes’.
‘Most leaders don’t know the achievements of the Chairmen in their Local Governments. It is therefore the duty of the Supervisors to create awareness about the milestones of their various Local Government Chairmen’, he added.
Speaking further, he expressed appreciations to a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and Ikorodu Division Apex APC Leader, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye for taking time to grace the event.
He equally thanked the Chairman of the occasion, Otunba Amid Oduborisha along with two former Lagos-East Senatorial district leaders, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya and Alhaji Musbau Gafar for honouring the Supervisors with their presence.
Adeshina also commended the two speakers namely, Dr Saheed Ibikunle and Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola for sharing their thoughts on how to reposition the Ikorodu Council areas.
Concluding, the Council boss charged Ikorodu Division APC Leaders to emulate the Apex Leader, Prince Ogunleye who always showcase Ikorodu Division outstanding talents to the Governor for political appointments, noting that Ikorodu Division is richly endowed with many talents.
