The Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative IDPIL has hosted its Local Joint Task Force LJTF operatives to a first-of-its-kind end-of-the-year party.
The joy of huh hundreds of the operatives who graced the knew no bound as they expressed appreciations to the IDPIL for hosting them to such lavish Christmas and end-of-the-year party.
The event which held at the Regal Hall, Olu Odo Estate in Igbogbo was also graced by two prominent royal fathers of Ikorodu Division namely, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi and Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and a retinue of Baales from Ikorodu and Igbogbo Kingdoms.
The event is holding few days after the body distributed 155 bags of rice and live Christmas chicken to the operatives as part of their welfare packages at the same venue.
In welcome speech at the event, Executive Secretary of the body, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru commended the operatives for their selflessness and dedication to duty.
‘Ever since we inaugurated the LJTF our people across Ikorodu Division can now sleep with their two eyes closed. What else do you want. Once adequate security is in place, peace, commerce and development will follow suit’, he said.
‘The Management of the IDPIL therefore decided to host these gentlemen as a way of showing appreciations and celebrating them for their doggedness. It is also meant to boost their morale so that they can do more in the coming year’, he added.
Speaking further, Abiru noted that the Christmas and End-of-the-year party was organized to serve as a platform for showing appreciations to the gallant operatives for working tirelessly to ensure peace and security reigns across Ikorodu Division.
Addressing the operatives, Oba Shotobi commended the Commandant of the LJTF, Chief Lanre Labinjo for his selfless community service and providing exemplary leadership for his men.
The revered monarch also expressed his pride and joy at the appearance of the operatives in their regal uniform outfit.
The Ayangburen also reiterated that the Lagos State Government was solidly behind the LJTF as evident in many support and encouragements the body has received from the State and Federal governments in the past.
He therefore charged the operatives not to relent in their efforts to ensure the security of Ikorodu Division as a whole.
Similarly, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali commended the LJTF operatives for their doggedness. He also charged them to ensure they work in synergy among themselves and other local security outfits.
The Agba-Akin of Ikorodu, Otunba (Sir) Ayodele Elesho also spoke glowingly of the good works being done by the Ikorodu Division LJTF.
Elesho also used the opportunity to inform the gathering about an on-going discussion with local government Chairmen in Ikorodu Division to ensure that the LJTF work in peace and harmony with other security outfits sponsored by the different council chairmen.
Many of the operatives who spoke at the event commended the Ikorodu Division royal fathers, Board and Management of the foremost Ikorodu Division Local Security outfit for the moral and welfare support they have been receiving since the LJTF was inaugurated in February this year.
Speaking on behalf of the LJTF operatives, the Deputy Commander of the LJTF Mr Adeniyi Adeleke expressed gratitude to Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN who is the sole sponsor of the operatives, Ikorodu Division Obas and Management of the IDPIL for putting smiles on the faces of his men.
A major highpoint of the Christmas and End-of-the-year party was the entertainment of the operatives with sumptuous meals. They were subsequently treated to sonorous music supplied by Ikorodu -born slim and sleek Disc Jockey, Amb Rasheed Fatuga.
