The entire Ikorodu Division of Lagos state was on Friday, 3rd February, 2017 agog with felicitation and out-pouring of Goodwill messages, in honour of one of Ikorodu’s brightest brains, politician and erudite scholar, Otunba Honourable Saheed Ibikunle as he marks his golden jubilee birthday anniversary.
Otunba Saheed Ibikunle was at different times, a former SSA to Lagos State government on Education Admin, SLG, Ikorodu local government and Member, Governor Council, Lagos State Polytechnic. He is currently the Chairman, Governing Board of UEC College.
Unlike what many should have expected, the dynamic politician and erudite scholar in his usual unique characteristic manner decided to dedicate his birthday to the impartation of the younger generation with leadership skills. This was organised in his honour by the management and staff of his private school, UEC College, where he serves as the Chairman, board of governor.
Delivering the keynote address at the event was a former Ikorodu N.B.A Chairman, Barr S.O.K Shillings who charged the students to take responsibility for their lives and situations around them. He further implored them to emulate the celebrant whose life has been a source of inspirations to thousands of Ikorodu youths.
The low-key Commemorative Leadership Lecture & Award Ceremony chaired by Mr Ayodeji Iginla, a former Rector of Lagos State Polytechnic was spiced with various cultural presentations from UEC students.
Some outstanding UEC College students were also recognized and presented with Special Awards in academics and personality.
