CUSTOMERS BERATE IKORODU GTB BANK OVER POOR SERVICES

In what many customers have described as a routine occurrence at the Lagos Road branch of Guarantee Trust Branch in Ikorodu, many customers were seen on almost an unending long queues for hours, which most customers blamed on staff who are working in the branch for being deliberately slow due to daily large turnout of customers.

A customer of the bank who spoke to our reporter on a visit to the bank, Mrs Grace Adesola, said the challenge is only peculiar to the branch among other branches of the bank she has been to. She also noted that, perhaps what could be responsible for the daily large turn out of customers is because of the zero-balance account nature that the branch is known for.

Another furious customer, Mr Rasaq, who also spoke to our reporter, said the Lagos road, Ikorodu branch of the bank is the worst he has seen in terms of prompt service delivery, adding that his account is domiciled at the Ketu branch, which is usually crowd-free, but he only came to the Lagos Road branch in Ikorodu,  to process a transaction since he could not go to Ketu at the time.

Long queue of customers were seen almost at every point of service, including the customer service centre. Some customers were seen sitting on the floor of the banking hall, with another seriously taking a nap while resting his back on the Central Air-Conditioner on the first floor at the branch.

A staff at the branch, who pleaded anonymity, said the challenge the branch is facing is not due to inadequate manpower, but the fact that most customers are yet to fully embrace other banking service options, such as using the Deposit Automated Teller Machine, so that only few people would have to come into the banking hall. However, customers complained that the branch only provided one of such machine, which cannot adequately cater for thousands of customers who come to make deposits daily.
