The member, House of Representatives, Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon Babajimi Benson, has charged residents of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, to deliver a minimum of 100,000 votes the need to record for the ruling party in Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly elections in the State.
Benson gave the target to about one thousand residents during the distribution of March edition of the Monthly I-Care Foundation Free Food Bank distribution tagged ‘Apo Aanu’ in Ikorodu.
While commending residents of Ikorodu for the massive votes recorded in the Presidential and National Assembly elections, which made Ikorodu first among other local governments, Hon Benson maintained that Ikorodu Division with about 300,000 registered voters could do better, by delivering more votes for the ruling party in Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
‘During this election, Ikorodu took the number one position by the number of votes cast and for the coming next Saturday’s election, people from Alimosho, Mushin, Ikeja, Kosofe, Shomolu, are not too happy that we overtook them. Let’s us be more determined and improve on the 60, 000 votes that we scored in the other election and make it 100, 000 because I know we have the capacity to do that’, he added.
‘If we can do that, we can increase the Commissionership position for Ikorodu from two to three or four’, he submitted.
The federal lawmaker also reminded residents of the pledges by popular Fuji Musician, King Wasiu Ayindee Marshal and a Chieftain of APC Fuad Oki both of whom have orimjsed handsome monetary rewards to wards with the highest number of votes across Ikorodu federal Constituency. They both made the pledge at the formal campaign flag-off of the APC Ikorodu Federal Constituency in January.
Benson also promised to facilitate road and other development projects to communities with highest votes at the governorship poll.
He also sensitized the electorates on the need for proper vote cast to avoid similar mistakes recorded in the Presidential and National Assembly elections, where many mistakenly casted their votes for the ADC, another party with similar name to the ruling APC, leading to the loss of votes that ought to have counted for the APC.
He therefore charged them to look for the broom which is APC’s party logo and thump printed in the box before it.
About 2,000 vulnerable individuals made up of aged, people living with disabilities, unemployed youths, widows / widowers, etc benefitted from the March edition of the Free Food distribution exercise.
Some distinguished guests at the event were the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederick Oladeinde, Ikorodu Local Government Chairman, Hon Wasiu Adeshina, his Imota and Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA counterparts, Hon Sesan Daini and Hon Wasiu Agoro.
Others were Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Oriwu Club President, Otunba (Engr) Amid Kunle Oduborisha, some political office holders and several APC Chieftains across Ikorodu federal Constituency.
