As part of efforts to boost the chances of the APC in Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly election in Lagos State, Rep Babajimi Benson, Chairman House Committee on Defence has parleyed the leadership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 26, Ikorodu Regional Headquarters in a strategic meeting.
The meeting which was well attended by top Pastors, including all Provincial Pastors and their Assistants, Zonal Pastors and Area Pastors of the Church across Ikorodu Division was chaired by the Regional Pastor, Pastor Dele Olowookere.
Addressing the clergy men, Hon Benson noted that he visited the Church in 2015 when he first joined politics. He maintained that the anointing he received on that visit has continued to work upon his life till date.
He also thanked them for the support he received at the National Assembly elections which returned him to the House for the third term.
He commended them for the support through which APC delivered the highest votes for the party in Lagos State in the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
‘The Governor sent us to seek for more assistance from you. Unlike other places, Ikorodu performed excellently well in the Presidential and National Assembly elections. The 60,000 votes we got in Ikorodu can be made to become 100,000 in the coming Saturday’s governorship election’, he stated.
‘If we go deeper, because the deep calleth unto the deep, we can do better in the forthcoming governorship elections. We have therefore come on the directive of His Excellency the Governor of Lagos State, to seek your blessings and support to make this a reality. We will appreciate it if you can assist us to escalate this message across all the parishes in the nooks and crannies of Ikorodu Division’, he said.
In his response, the Regional Pastor, Olowookere welcomed Honourable Babajimi Benson, ‘On behalf of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and our General Overseer, we appreciate the Governor for deeming it fit to send this entourage to us to appreciate what God is doing in the Church in the land of Ikorodu. We are not the only Church, we have many others. We therefore appreciate His Excellency for this show of love. We also thank you, Honorable and your entourage for this visit’
‘As a Church, we are not partisan because we have a lot of our members in different political parties. However, the good works of the governor and his efforts is written boldly on the wall. He has done very well in his past four years in office. When a man has done well, it is expected that he is allowed to return for a second term’, he added.
We as a Church will continue to pray for the Governor. We want to assure you that we will pray for God to help him in his second term bid, and we believe that God will help him to succeed in the forthcoming elections’, he concluded.
A major highpoint of the visit was the offering of special prayers for Hon Benson by the body of Clergy men for him to succeed and make better impact in his third term in office.
