2024 GENERAL ASSEMBLY: EPID FLAGS OFF PUBLICITY, DEMANDS RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNANCE FROM FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT

The Eminent Persons of Ikorodu Division EPID, an Ikorodu Division based socio-political organization has demanded an accountable and responsible governance from elected and appointed public office holders at the federal, state and local government levels.

The body made the demand, on Saturday, through the Chairman, 2024 Ikorodu Division General Assembly, organized by the Eminent Persons of Ikorodu Division, during the body’s Pre-2024 General Assembly Press Conference and Media Parley on Saturday.

Responding to questions from journalists at the parley, Chairman of the General Assembly Planning Committee and a former Lagos State Head of Service, Bashorun Babatunde Tajudeen Rotinwa noted that, the EPID Liaison Group was established as a working committee of the organization, with the mandate to collaborate with federal, state and local governments towards ensuring the delivery of democratic dividends to the good people of Ikorodu Division.

‘Our mandate, as the Liaison Group of the Eminent Persons of Ikorodu Division is to collaborate with the three (3) levels of government (Federal, State and Local) in Nigeria, with a view to bringing about significant sustainable developments to Ikorodu Division’.

‘Let me therefore use this medium to call on all Political Office Holders and Government Functionaries to be alive to their statutory responsibilities to the good people of Ikorodu Division’, he said.

Speaking further, Rotinwa also called on manufacturing industries and corporate bodies operating within the Division to give back to the community.

‘Similarly, manufacturing companies, financial institutions and other corporate organizations operating on Ikorodu Division soil are implored to join hands with us in building a vibrant and developed community, through strategic Corporate Social-Responsibility initiatives’.

‘The development of Ikorodu Division cannot be left in the hands of the government alone. Developed societies are built through the collaborative and concerted efforts of government, corporate organizations and the citizenry, hence all hands must be on deck’, he added.

Speaking further, the former Chairman of Lagos State Local Government Service Commission also used the opportunity to formally invite all stakeholders to the 2024 Ikorodu Division General Assembly.

‘On this note, I hereby use this opportunity to formally invite our political representatives, government officials, representatives of corporate bodies and other strategic stakeholders and partners to join us at this year’s 2024 Ikorodu Division General Assembly slated for Thursday, 23rd May, 2024 at the Ikorodu Ultra-Modern Town Hall’.

‘The Assembly promises to offer a veritable platform for robust discussion on the challenges and prospects inherent in strategic synergy among all Ikorodu Division development stakeholders’, he assured.

A major highpoint of the parley was the formal unveiling of the 2024 Ikorodu Division General Assembly publicity stickers to signal the formal commencement of publicity and general awareness for the event.

The body’s social media handles @eminentpersonsofikorodusivisionEPID on Facebook and @eminentpersonsofikorodusivision on Instagram were also announced to the gathering.

The parley was graced by some leaders of EPID namely, Engr Chief R. O Shoderu, Chairman EPID Liaison Group, Prof Kunle Ade-Wahab and Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee, Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe.

Others who graced the event were the Secretary of the Planning Committee, Mr Giwa, Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Otunba Odulate and Supervisor for Environment, Ikorodu Local Government and EPID Member, Arakunrin Kazeem Showemimo.
