The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, has responded positively to the outcry of residents and Point of Sales (POS) operators in Ikorodu Local Government over the levy imposed on them by the Council.
Consequently, the Council boss has directed the immediate suspension of the daily levy imposed on the operators indefinitely.
The levy, which was introduced in September, 2023 has been a major revenue source for the local government, aimed at delivering dividends of democracy to all and sundry.
However, in a demonstration of his commitment to positive feedback and prioritizing the interests of the masses, Hon. Adesina has ordered the revenue department to halt the levy.
Adeshina in a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Faheedah Oyeleye noted that, despite this decision, his administration remains dedicated to utilizing levies and rates judiciously for the betterment of the community, as evident in the numerous projects and initiatives already accomplished.
‘As the administration’s tenure draws to a close, we are committed to delivering value to our community’, he promised.
‘In the coming weeks, we will be commissioning a series of legacy projects including a well-equipped block of classrooms at the African Bethel Primary School, ICT centres for Primary Schools, presentation of bursary to our students in tertiary institutions, the commissioning of the Ikorodu Local Government Legislative Chamber, Multiple roads across the wards, and lots more’, he added.
‘Ikorodu is Moving Forward because your Levies and Rates are being put to work’, the statement concluded.
