The leadership of the Nigerian Army Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) Oshodi and beneficiaries of the 4th batch of the Agric and Vocational Skills Training for Ikorodu Youths have commended the Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Defence, Rep Babajimi Benson for his commitment towards youth development and empowerment.
Deputy Commandant of the Centre, Major General Emmanuel Anario stated this yesterday during the graduation ceremony of the 4th batch of the full residential training at Oshodi, Lagos.
Similarly, some of the participants have expressed their appreciation to Rep Benson for giving them the rare lifetime training opportunity.
One of the participants, Aregbesola Olanrewaju described the training as a very fantastic one noting that they were able to learn so much within the short period of six weeks.
He equally commended Benson and NAFRC for providing them a very conducive and homely environment for learning.
Another female participant, who simply gave her name as Success confessed that the programme ‘makes sense’ in local parlance.
‘I am not going the same way I came. Though, I major in Fishery, I am going to explore other opportunities in the Agric value chain. Just watch out for me’, an excited Success declared.
The six week training was organized in partnership with the Ikorodu-born federal lawmaker as a way of reducing unemployment among youths in Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
Mr Aregbesola Rasheed, who represented Rep Benson at the graduation ceremony noted that the training was the fourth in its series and was a demonstration of Benson’s commitment towards reducing youth unemployment.
Earlier, Major General Emmanuel Anario, Deputy Commandant, Armed Forces Resettlement Centre commended Rep Benson for the strategic partnership with the centre.
He added that, ‘this initiative is of the Commandant, and it is aimed at training and empowering our teeming youths with a view to helping them acquire some skills and trade that can help them develop themselves and live productive lives, instead of being idle and unemployed’.
He however charged the participants to ensure they put all what they have learnt into good use by adding value to the society.
