Laulat Memorial Foundation, a Non-governmental charity organization has been commended for their various humanitarian activities across Ikorodu Division.
Founder of the body, Hon (Prince) Olayiwola Oyedele Shotomiwa, a Canada based Nigerian has equally being commended for his vision and passion for selfless community and humanitarian activities.
The commendation was given by the Special Adviser on Constituency Matters to Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Mukhail, Dr Saheed Ibikunle.
Ibikunle, Member Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board gave the commendation on Friday when the Foundation President, Mr Obadare Oshikoya a special courtesy visit to the latter in his office.
Addressing his guests, Ibikunle noted that he has been following the body’s activities since inception and that he was impressed by their modest achievements and impacts they have made so far.
‘Olayiwola is a leader that likes to make a difference and transform things around. That is exactly the reason I identified with the Foundation in the first place. Because, I know his background as someone who likes to organize and bring things together’, he stated.
Ibikunle, who is also the Special Adviser to the Foundation on Education recalled Mr Shotomiwa’s contributions as a student of Lagos State Polytechnic, now Lagos State University of Technology (LASUSTECH) and how he was able to coordinate the entire student community of the Ikorodu Annex of the institution, which eventually earned him the Presidency of the Polytechnic students union, in recognition of his active roles.
He however charged the team to continue to strive towards the fulfillment of the vision of the founder, stressing that government alone cannot solve societal problems.
A major highpoint of the visit was the presentation of an acrylic framed photo of Ibikunle to him by the team.
According to Oshikoya, the presentation was in commemoration of Ibikunle’s birthday celebration on 3rd February.
