In preparation to host sons, daughters and distinguished guests in Ipakodo for the celebration of the 2nd Edition of Ipakodo Day Celebrations, the Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Basiru Aremu Sotonwa has inaugurated a Joint Planning Committee to execute the twin event.
A major highlight of this year’s event is the commemoration of Oba Sekumade’s 5th Coronation Anniversary as a way of marking the Monarch’s peaceful reign in the community since 2018.
At a special inauguration event of the Joint Planning Committee, held at the Sekumade Palace, Ipakodo kingdom, Oba Sotonwa was joined by prominent chiefs and stakeholders from the community and some representatives of the Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area who represented the Executive Chairman, Hon Sulaiman Kazeem Olanrewaju.
Inaugurating the Committee, Oba Sotonwa charged them to work hard within the few months they have to deliver an event that would put Ipakodo Kingdom on the radar as a community to be reckoned with in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
Earlier, the monarch applauded the 2022 Maiden Ipakodo Day Celebrations Committee, headed by Prince Sunkanmi Shotonwa for doing the community proud through the outstanding success they recorded with the hosting of the maiden community event last year.
The monarch however charged the Committee to raise the bar with the second edition, especially with the merger of the 5th Coronation Anniversary Committee, headed by the Baba Eto of Ipakodo Kingdom, Chief Dr Bolaji Harrison Adeniji with the Ipakodo Day Planning Committee.
Oba Sotonwa subsequently inaugurated the Joint Planning Committee Heads, with the directive for them to ensure the mobilization and inclusion of all important key stakeholders of Ipakodo Kingdom, indigenes and non-indigenes alike for active participation in the twin event.
The event was witnessed by the Lisa of Ipakodo, High Chief Oladayo Shotomiwa, the Secretary to Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon Femi Anifowose, Supervisor for Youth and Sports, Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon Adelani Okunade and Otunba Gbolahan Hassan and Bada of Ipakodo, Chief Adele Ogunlade among others.
