600 IKORODU DIVISION MARKET MEN AND WOMEN, MSME RECEIVE REP. BABAJIMI BENSON’S ANNUAL BUSINESS GRANT TO BOOST GRASSROOTS ECONOMY

In a renewed demonstration of his commitment to grassroots economic empowerment and small business support, Babajimi Benson has facilitated the disbursement of ₦50,000 business grants to market men, market women, and small business owners across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

The empowerment programme, which officially commenced on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the lawmaker’s constituency office in Ikorodu, is expected to benefit a total of 600 beneficiaries drawn from various communities and markets across the Division.

Although Rep. Benson was unavoidably absent at the commencement ceremony, he was ably represented by Mayor Deen Sanwoola, Director-General of the iCare Foundation and Executive Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on LASPA, who supervised the official flag-off of the disbursement exercise on behalf of the federal lawmaker.

Only a fraction of the beneficiaries were physically present at the event to symbolically commence the programme, while the disbursement process, which began immediately after the ceremony, is scheduled to be concluded on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

Addressing beneficiaries and stakeholders at the venue, Mayor Deen Sanwoola described the intervention as another reflection of Rep. Babajimi Benson’s unwavering dedication to improving the economic wellbeing of ordinary residents, particularly small-scale entrepreneurs and market traders who form the backbone of the local economy.

He noted that the grant scheme, which is part of the annual empowerment initiative of the lawmaker, experienced a temporary setback last year, but Rep. Benson remained determined to ensure its return this year in fulfilment of his commitment to the people.

According to him, the programme aligns with the economic support philosophy of the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and represents another practical effort at taking the Renewed Hope agenda directly to the grassroots.

Mayor Sanwoola expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for creating policies and support systems that continue to inspire people-oriented interventions across different levels of government, while also commending Rep. Benson for sustaining the facilitation of impactful empowerment programmes within Ikorodu Federal Constituency despite prevailing economic challenges.

He further encouraged beneficiaries to make productive use of the grants in strengthening their businesses and improving their household income.

The beneficiaries, visibly excited, expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu, Rep. Benson, and the iCare Foundation team for the intervention, describing the grant as timely support capable of helping many of them restock their businesses, expand operations, and navigate the current economic realities.

Several market traders present at the event praised the consistency of Rep. Benson’s grassroots interventions, noting that the lawmaker has continued to distinguish himself through practical empowerment initiatives that directly impact the lives of ordinary people.

Stakeholders and party leaders who attended the programme also commended the transparency and orderly coordination of the disbursement process, describing the initiative as another testament to responsive and people-centred representation.

Over the years, Rep. Babajimi Benson has sustained various empowerment and social intervention programmes across Ikorodu Federal Constituency through the iCare Foundation, covering areas such as business support, education, healthcare, youth development, food support, and infrastructural development.

Observers noted that the reactivation of the annual business grant scheme further reinforces the lawmaker’s reputation as a strong advocate of grassroots economic growth and inclusive community development across Ikorodu Division.
