SECURITY: EXCITEMENTS AS IDPILG PRESENTS 9 PATROL VEHICLES, 30 MOTORBIKES TO IKORODU DIVISION LJTF OPERATIVES

Exactly one week after its formal launching and unveiling at a well-attended and elaborate event, the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative has presented 9 patrol vehicles and 30 motorbikes to its operatives across Ikorodu Division on Tuesday, 14th March, 2022.

The Executive Secretary of the IDPILG, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru made the presentation to leaders and representatives of the Zones / LCDAs on behalf of the IDPILG board. They in turn presented them to LJTF Zonal Commanders of each LCDA on behalf of the IDPILG at the Ayangburen Palace in Ikorodu.

Abiru was joined at the presentation by some board of trustee members of the IDPILG namely, Rev (Col.) Titilayo Onafowokan and Hon Adebimpe Akinsola while IDPILG Secretary, Mr Salami Taiwo Awolaru coordinated the distribution exercise.

In his brief remark after the presentation, Abiru thanked the men and women of the LJTF for volunteering themselves to restore peace and security to Ikorodu Division. He noted that the presentation and other welfare packages like the life insurance policy and free health insurance were few of the ways the community shows appreciations to them, for their selflessness.

He further announced to the excitements of the men that, they will start receiving monthly stipends in their bank accounts, starting from this month of March.

Abiru however cautioned the operatives not to convert the vehicles and motorbikes to personal and social usage, noting that they will be strictly monitored through log books and other avenues.

‘These vehicles are not meant to be used to show off to your girlfriends, neither are they meant to be used for attending social events. They are strictly for security purposes and should be used only for that purpose’, he said.

‘For your information, we will be providing you with log books which must be filled at all time, when you are going on operations. You must always log in and out on a regular basis. If you are able to maintain these vehicles very well, you can rest assured that, more will still be added’, he submitted.

Corroborating Otunba Abiru, Hon Akinsola commended the operatives, but charged them to be responsible and disciplined in handling the vehicles and motorbikes. She stressed the need for only duly licensed drivers and riders to operate the vehicles and motorbikes, charging them to uphold the rule.of law in the discharge of their duties to the community.
