The Management of Nigeria’s leading and most widely read community newspaper, Oriwu Sun has announced the decision of its management to present an Outstanding Politician Award to Hon Babajimi Benson, Chairman House Committee on Defence.
The award, according to the Management of the community magazine is unprecedented, being the first time the media house will be honouring any individual since its over 30 years of existence.
Chairman Board of Trustees of Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative (IDPIL), High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN the Odofin of Ikorodu Kingdom is billed to chair the 2-in-1 occasion, which also features the formal launch of a book titled, Practical Community Newspaper Reporting and Production.
Oriwu Sun Newspaper public statement reads in part, ‘the award winning and number one community tabloid in Nigeria, would honour the performing and unassuming representative of the lkorodu Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Babajimi Adegoke Benson, with the Outstanding Politician Award of the year’.
‘Since inception, we have not given award to any politician, but the case of Jimi Benson, the poster boy of lkorodu politics and numero uno politician, is an exception considering his brilliant performance; both in his lawmaking duty and improving the living standards of his constituents in terms of people-oriented projects and programmes, a feat never achieved by any lkorodu politician, dead or alive’.
‘It is for this reason we are rolling out the drums and spreading out the red carpet to honour Jimi Benson to encourage him to do more and inspire other politicians to emulate him’.
The formal award presentation has been slated for February 2nd, 2023 at Aquilah Event Center, along T.O.S Benson Road, Ikorodu.
