MOHBAD: REP BENSON BANS NAIRA MARLEY’S SONGS ON IKD 106.1FM, SET TO PRESENT IKORODU YOUTHS PETITIONTO THE HOUSE

Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Defense and Member, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Reps, Rep Babajimi Benson has ordered the ban of Naira Marley’s songs on IKD 106.1 FM, an Ikorodu based community radio he founded.

Benson disclosed this decision to Ikorodu Oga Radio, in a exclusive chat on Friday.

Speaking on the singer’s death, Hon Benson said, ‘I commiserate with the good people of Ikorodu Division on the death of talented musician, Mohbad. Everybody is grieving now and it is understandable’.

‘As Rep Member for Ikorodu Federal Constituency where his family house is, I identify with all residents, particularly our youths who are his fans’, he added.

Meanwhile, Rep Benson also informed our correspondent that he will also be presenting a petition on the floor of the House of Reps, on behalf of Ikorodu Division youths when plenary resumes next week Tuesday.

It would be recalled that hundreds of Ikorodu Division youths stormed the streets of Ikorodu to protests the singer’s death, calling on government to probe the circumstances surrounding his death.

The amiable federal lawmaker also promised to liaise with all relevant security agencies in the country in ensuring that a detailed and transparent investigation is conducted and that justice is served, on the controversial circumstances surrounding the late singer’s untimely death.

Mohbad, originally named Ileri Ayo Oladimeji Aloba, died under controversial circumstances on September 12 and was buried the next day.

However, his remains has been exhumed for autopsy on the order of the Nigerian Police, following the protests and agitations trailed his death, with many pointing accusing fingers on his erstwhile boss, controversial musician and owner of Marlian Records, Azeez Fashola, a.k.a Naira Marley as the main suspect.
