MAIDEN IPAKODO DAY: SENATOR ABIRU, HON BENSON, DR HASSAN JIMBO, HON SULAIMAN, OTHERS BAG IPAKODO HONORS, RECOGNITION AWARDS

The Chairman of Senate Committee on Industries, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Chairman, House Committee on Defence and Medical Director of General Hospital, Ikorodu Dr Taiwo Hassan Jimbo has bagged the Ipakodo Honors and Recognition Awards.

The trio were among several other distinguished guests, honorary chiefs and Ipakodo indigenes who bagged various categories of award at the Grand Finale of the Maiden Ipakodo Day Celebrations, which held at the Ferry Terminal in Ipakodo Kingdom on Saturday, 8th October, 2022.Speaking on the significance of the event, The Sekumads of Ipakodo, Oba (Engr) Basiru Aremu Sotonwa expressed happiness that the much anticipated event finally held for the first time in Ipakodo history, during his reign.

‘I am highly elated that, through the Maiden Ipakodo Day Celebrations, which is climaxing today, we the good people of Ioakodo kingdom have collectively demonstrated publicly that we have put the past behind us and we have decided to focus on the positive things that bound us together as a community’.

Oba Sotonwa also used the opportunity of the event to laud the good people of Ipakodo for their support and cooperation with him since he ascended the throne in 2018.’To the good people of Ipakodo Kingdom, I express my gratitude to you all for your supports and cooperation with me since I ascended the throne of Sekumade over four years ago. Let me appreciate you particularly for your support, towards making this Maiden Ipakodo Day a reality, despite the short notice and prevailing economic situations in the country’, he said.

Others who received various forms of awards and recognitions were the Exexurive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon Sulaiman Kazeem Olanrewaju, the Olisa of Ipakodo, High Chief Oludayo Shotomiwa and Leader of the Ikorodu West Legislative Chamber, Hon Jessica Enitan Oba.Others are, Baba Eto of Ipakodo, Chief Dr Bolaji Adeniji, Apesin of Ipakodo, Chief (Mrs) Sekinat Dosunmu-Solebo, Bobaselu of Ipakodo, Oloye Oye Solebo, Aremo of Ipakodo, Engr Ganiyu Olukayode Saka and Baba Oba of Ipakodo, Chief Rafiu Animashaun.

The week-long Ipakodo Day Celebration commenced on Monday, 3rd and ended on Saturday, 8th October, 2022 featuring diverse socio-cultural activities like Woro Procession, Free Medical Screening and Treatment, Community and Citizens’ Day, Youth Activity Day, among other activities.
