The executive Chairman of Ikorodu local government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina has charged the councillors in the local government to initiate progressive and dynamic byelaws that would lead to the development of the council area.
Hon Adeshina have the charge at the formal proclamation of the Ikorodu local government legislature at the council Secretariat on Monday, 2nd August.
He noted that, ‘ Your role in the success of this administration is enormous. There are critical stakeholders in the administration of the local government, they are the civil and the engine room of the local government, you are legislators, we also have the judiciary. The three arms mist work together for the success of this administration.
The Chairman added that, ‘the only hope for this administration is to increase the revenue base of this local government as the meagre federal allocation is not enough to meet the needs of the people’.
He also praised the immediate past legislators for their immense support to the success of the administration through review and passages of bye laws that aided the success of the administration.
Adeshina further expressed the readiness of his administration to partner with community development associations and CDCs towards achieving optimal revenue drive, in the area of radio and TV license in the communities.
The council chair concluded by stating that, ‘in spite of the meagre federal allocation, gis administration was able to embark on numerous developmental projects across the local government namely, markets, culverts, schools, road constructions among many other projects.
A major highlight of the event was the proclamation of the 6th Ikorodu legislative arm performed by the Executive Chairman, Hon Wasiu Adeshina.
