Following the wanton destruction of goods, several shops, stalls and properties worth billions of naira at the Ayangburen market, Sabo Ikorodu, by yet-to-be-identified persons, the paramount ruler of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi has paid a sympathetic visit to the affected market men and women on Monday, May 8th, 2017, promising to get to the root of the matter.
The Kabiyesi, while addressing the traders expressed extreme grief that some unscrupulous elements in the society could go the extent of demolishing other peoples’ properties without the approval of the Lagos State Government, or a court order as the case may be.
The monarch, who consoled the wailing traders, appealed to them to be patient while he summoned all the contacts available to him to reveal the face of the evil doers. Oba Shotobi encouraged the traders not give up on life and the market, noting how much they have both been working together over series of tussles that have ensued on the market overtime.
“You have come to me many times over challenges you have been facing in the market, and we have been working together, because Sabo market is the king’s market, and you have always abide by whatever we agree upon, therefore I will get to the bottom of the matter, but I will require your patience while I do this”.
The first class monarch again expressed shock over the act of evil perpetrated at the market by those he described as ‘enemies of prosperity’ for disobedience to his authority and that of the court. Oba Shotobi added that, three days to the unwarranted destruction of the market, he saw a court order restraining any act of demolition in the market obtained by Agboola Legal Consultants and Advisers, after a notice was placed at the market, threatening the traders, while the matter was yet to be decided upon by the court.
The monarch, who was visibly moved by the degree of destruction and the plight of the affected traders therefore invoked the spirits of his ancestors to arise and fight against those behind the evil acts.
