The Ikorodu Local Government Education Secretary, Alh. Taiwo Odumbo has commended the visionary leadership of the Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Engr. Basiru Aremu Sotonwa, FNSE.
Odumbo also lauded Oba Sotonwa for his love and passion for quality education within his domain.
The education administrator gave the commendation on tuesday during a courtesy visit to the monarch at his palace in Ipakodo town.
The Education Secretary also used the opportunity to pay an inspection visit to the site of the on-going construction of a 200 capacity school hall, head teacher’s office, and toilet facilities, among other amenities initiated to improve the school’s amenities, by the Sekuamde of Ipakodo.
The project is being sponsored by the Ipakodo Development Association (IDA), from the support received during the 2025 Ipakodo Day Celebration held in October.
Oba Sotonwa praised Odumbo for creating time to pay him a courtesy visit while assuring him of his support and that of the entire Ipakodo and, by extension, Ikorodu West LCDA towards his successful tenure in office.
The monarch, a retired Director of rural electrification project in Lagos State, also called the attention of the E.S to certain amenities in the LG Primary School, Ipakodo that requires immediate attention.
Responding, Odumbo thanked Oba Sotonwa for his his large heart and visionary leadership in Ipakodo since he assuked the throne of his forefathers about 7 years ago.
Regarding the amenities within the L.G Primary School, Ipakodo, the Education Secretary, assured the royal father of immediate interventions from his office. He equally promised to escalate to the appropriate quarters if necessary.
Some of the management team of the Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority that joined Alh. Odumbo on the visit were Head of Planning, Research, and Statistics section Mrs. Rasaq-Davies Bilqis Mojisola and Head of Section, School Support Services, Mrs. Mustapha Wosilat Adenike.
Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo has indeed been working tirelessly to improve primary education in Ikorodu Division since taking office. He’s made significant strides, engaging with stakeholders to enhance the quality of education.
