IKORODU COUNCIL BOSS, HON ADESHINA INAUGURATES JOINT SECURITY TASK FORCE, READS RIOT ACT TO CRIMINAL ELEMENTS IN IKORODU

Ikorodu Local Government area will no longer be a safe haven to criminal elements. This indication was given on Monday, 24th September by the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina.

Adeshina gave the warning during the formal Inauguration of the Council’s Local Joint Task Force operatives at the council Secretariat.

The event, according to Adeshina was the climax of series of processes that included the sending of an executive bill to the legislative chamber, public hearing and drafting of the bill up to its final passage.
 
He stated that the inauguration was in fulfillment of his mandate of a safe and secured Ikorodu Local Government, where residents can sleep with their two eyes closed.


 
Addressing the gathering, Adesina stated that ‘the event we are witnessing today took a lot of deliberate and strategic steps before getting to the point of inauguration. To establish this Joint Task Force, we were able to get energetic and passionate men and women who were efficiently trained by the Nigeria Police Force, NPF Ikorodu, and other security outfits’.
 
‘This local security outfit is a planned and coordinated response against crime in line with my resolve to end the crime rate within the local government’, he added.

He further explained that the operatives were selected from existing local vigilante groups within the council area and were brought under the umbrella of the joint task force for proper coordination. He noted that the JTF will work in partnership with the police and other security agencies in providing security for the council area.

Adeshina also inspected the newly inaugurated security personnel in company of the Apex Ikorodu Division APC Leader and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, representatives of the DPO of the Nigerian Police Force, Ikorodu Division, Men of the Lagos State Neighborhood Corps, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Council of Baales.

A major highlight of the inauguration ceremony was the presentation of two patrol vehicles and two motorcycles to the JTF by Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, to enhance security patrol and surveillance across the Council area.
 

APC Chieftains, Community and Security Stakeholders in attendance applauded the Council boss for demonstrating strong commitment to the peace and tranquility of the area.
