The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina has disclosed that he has improved the internally revenue generation base of Ikorodu local government from barely Five Million Naira when he came into office to over N100 Million Naira by 2022.
‘When I resume office, I met the revenue profile of the council at less than five million naira, today we have improved the revenue profile to over N150 Million Naira per annum’, he said.
Adeshina made the disclosure at the 2023 Inter-Religious Thanksgiving Service held at the council secretariat on Friday.
Adeshina at the event commended the revenue staff of the council for their support and commitment to duty. He however charged them to be ready to work harder in the new year to further boost the Council’s IGR by expanding the tax net, without putting pressure on the good people of Ikorodu.
He further directed the Council Chairman to set up a committee that would supervise the activities of the revenue staff on a quarterly basis for a quarterly award of N200,000 to best two revenue staffs of the local government.
Adeshina also used the opportunity to promise more welfare pa kage and revenue bus for the revenue department. He concluded by wishing the Council’s staff a happy and prosperous new year.
A major highpoint of the event was the announcement of N2,000 new year stipends for the over 500 staff members of the local government.
Responding on behalf of the Council Staff, NULGE Chairman, Com Adenike Elizabeth Mabodu commended Hon Adeshina for his new year gift and welfare packages for the staff.
She equally charged the staff members to reciprocate the good gesture of the Council Boss with massive support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the forthcoming elections.
Earlier, Pastor Femi Gilbert of Daylight Revival Church, Lucky Fibre led the Christian prayer and thanksgiving session while Sheikh Shakirudeen Akanni led the Muslim session of the thanksgiving prayers.
The Clerics charged the gathering to move closer to God and approach the new year with positive mindset to enable them have a fruitful new year.
The event was graced by the Leader of the House, Secretary to the Local Government, APC Party Leaders and several senior local government staff.
