FUN, GAMES, EXCITEMENTS AS IKORODU LOCAL GOVERNMENT FETES SCHOOL CHILDREN AT COUNCIL’S CHRISTMAS PARTY

Hundreds of school pupils from private and secondary schools drawn from various parts of Ikorodu Local Government were today treated to a lavish Christmas and End-of-the-Year Party by the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina and his beautiful wife, Mrs Abolanle Adeshina.

The event, which was held at the new inter-locked open arena within the council Secretariat was graced by APC Chieftains, Senior Council Staffs and parents of participating school children among others.

The school children were entertained with lots of interesting games, dancing competitions and bouncing castles.

A major highpoint of the Christmas party was the visit of the children to the Father Christmas grotto, where they were given branded bags, containing groceries and other gift items.

Speaking at the event, Adeshina gave an insight into the reason for organizing the event.

‘Christmas is all about celebrations and today we want children to have a feel of what the Christmas celebration entails. The celebration comes with a lot of fun and gifts too. Winners of the quiz, debates will also be rewarded with gifts’, he stated.

‘This administration places a lot of importance on the growth and development of children, this is why we have this kind of Celebration annually for children. Among these “leaders of tomorrow”, are Presidents, Governors etc. who will grow to become good members of the society, so, they should not be neglected, rather they should be celebrated, they should be brought up rightly, so they know and understand that the government cares about them’, he added.

Beyond the Christmas party, the council boss also gave a word of advise to the children.

‘My advice to the children is to be studious, so they can become leaders of tomorrow. They should also take advantage of the programmes of the government, both at the federal, State and grassroot level to improve their education’, he counseled.

Similarly, wife of the Chairman, Mrs Abolanle Adeshina also justified the event.

‘As a mother, one of the ways of making our children happy is by giving them special treats like this, especially after a very busy academic term.

‘These children deserve to relax, have fun and enjoy themselves. Many of them just finished writing examinations. This is a good way to help them unwind. Like they say, all works and no play make jack a dull boy’, she pointed out.

Concluding, Adeshina admonished residents of Ikorodu Local Government should to take it easy, avoid alcohol and celebrate this year’s Christmas with peace of mind so that they will all live to see 2024.
