The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has continued to expand its 16 Days of Activism Campaign with the DSVA Sensitization Team’s recent visit to the NYSC Orientation Camp, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.
In her address at the event, the Executive Secretary of DSVA, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi said the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) campaign held at the NYSC Orientation Camp is aimed at raising awareness and educating corp members on the prevalence and consequences of SGBV.
Vivour-Adeniyi, who spoke through the Head of Fields Operation, DSVA, Mrs. Oluwakemi Bello, said the initiative is designed to empower the corp members with the knowledge and tools to prevent and address instances of SGBV within the camp community and also sensitise them corp members on the prevalence of SGBV.
She explained that gender-based violence is an act directed at an individual based on his/her gender, revealing that the State has declared zero tolerance on all forms of sexual and gender-based violence. The Executive Secretary added that ignorance can never be an excuse in the court of law, hence, anyone found guilty of the act, would face the full wrath of the Law.
She stressed that ending the menace requires input from all and emphasised the need for corp members to take up the role of mandated reporters thereby ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable and survivors get adequate support services they need.
Similarly, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) recently organised a Walk in Epe as part of its ongoing enlightenment and sensitization campaign on the 16 Days of Activism on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence against Women and Girls.
Executive Secretary DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi said the agency was aligning with the global movement for the annual event, adding that the 16 Days of Activism campaign with the theme: “Women Arise, Light Up Campaign”, was organised by the Agency in partnership with UNFPA to educate traders at the Ayetoro Market in Epe.
