FOOD SECURITY: IKORODU LOCAL GOVERNMENT SET TO SPONSOR YOUTHS ON FOREIGN AGRIC EXCHANGE PROGRAMME, AS COUNCIL BOSS PROMISES MORE PEOPLE-CENTRED WELFARE PROGRAMMES

Within the next couple of weeks, the first set of beneficiaries of the Ikorodu Local Government Foreign Agric Exchange programme would be due for their foreign training trip.

This was revealed by the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina yesterday.

Adeshina gave the hint while addressing members of the WADESH Foundation Team during the 2024 New Year Party hosted by the council boss.

Speaking on the programme, Adeshina noted that while his administration would leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of its numerous Infrastructural projects, it would also not leave out people-centred programmes that would have direct impacts on the well-being of the masses.

‘We won’t be building infrastructures alone, we will pursue welfare programmes that would benefit our people. We will distribute more food palliatives and sponsor economic empowerment nitiatives’, he promised.

‘The first set of our Foreign Agriculture Exchange Training Programme will be set to embark on their trip by the March. It is a training aimed at exposing our people to latest Agricultural practices, with a view to boosting local food production within Ikorodu local government’, he stated.

Adeshina further disclosed that his administration will soon be holding a stakeholders meeting with residents of Solomade Street, as a prelude to the rehabilitation of the road.

He added other proposed road projects to include Arowolo Street, Dada Street and Agura-Gberigbe axis.

A major highpoint of the event was the distribution of 20 units of 3.5kg of gas to some members of the group, in continuation of the Council’s subsidy removal palliative to indigent residents.

The event climaxed with music, dancing competitions and entertainment of attendees with lots of food and drinks.

The event was graced by top APC Chieftains, political office holders and WADESH Foundation members across the council area.
