A former Commissioner for Arts & Culture in Lagos State, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola today, 12th April 2026, marks the 10th year remembrance of her late mother, Madam Simbiat Ashake Onasanya, who died in 2016.
The 10th year remembrance Thanksgiving Service was held at the United African Methodist Church, Igbogbo Lagos State, and was graced by close family members and relatives.
The Presbyter of the UAMC, in his brief remarks, he described the late matriarch of the Onasanya family as a dedicated woman who served God selflessly during her lifetime.
Akinsola was later danced forward along with her immediate family members, friends, and associates for the special memorial Thanksgiving Service.
As a demonstration of her appreciation to God for his faithfulness and preservation over the family for the past one decade, she donated 40 pieces of plastic chairs and children Sunday School books to the Church.
Akinsola equally used the opportunity to thank the entire UAMC leadership for standing by the Onasanya family in the last 10 years.
The clergy appreciated Akinsola and her family for the good gesture while praying for the repose of the soul of their departed matriarch.
In a brief chat with Ikorodu Oga Radio, Akinsola fondly recalled the memory 9f her late mother, who she described as her greatest mentor and inspiration.
In her brief remarks Akinsola equally use the opportunity to encourage youths, especially undergraduates of higher institutions of learning in the Church to take advantage of the FG’s NELFUND educational loan support for the realization of their academic dreams.
Members of the Onasanya family and relatives that graced the occassion includes, Alh. Wosilat Abebi Bolowotan and grandchildren of the deceased, Mrs. Ireti and Michael Ayeni among others.
Other guests at the event includes the retired award-winning Best School Principal in Nigeria, Alh. Sherifat Ogunniyi; IDPIL Director of Administration, Mr. Taiwo Salami Awolaru; Founder and CEO of Ikorodu Oga Radio, Omo’ba Peju Akinyemi; Mr. Deji Sonubi and many others.
