
Ikorodu Town Hall came alive with a strong display of honour, culture, and spirituality as top dignitaries, royal fathers, and Islamic leaders gathered to celebrate the 70th birthday and 20th Imamate anniversary of Sheikh Seifudeen Ademoritan Olowooribi.
The event, which drew a large crowd from across Ikorodu Division and Lagos State, was marked by prayers, tributes, and renewed calls for community development, particularly the rebuilding of the Ikorodu Central Mosque.
Delivering the welcome address on behalf of the organising committee, Kamorudeen Damola Olowosago described the occasion as more than a celebration of age, but a recognition of a life dedicated to service to Allah, humanity, and the growth of Islam.

“Today, we are not only celebrating a milestone, but honouring a man of deep faith, vision, and commitment to the Muslim Ummah,” he said. “This gathering also marks the beginning of a greater mission – the rebuilding of the Ikorodu Central Mosque into a befitting edifice for generations to come.
”He further called on well-meaning individuals to support the mosque project, noting that contributing to such a cause is a lasting investment in both community development and spiritual reward.

The event was graced by respected traditional rulers, including the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, and the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, who both paid glowing tributes to the celebrant.
Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi led the presentation of gifts to the celebrant with a cash donation of millions of naira; a gesture that drew applause from attendees and set the tone for other donations.

Also in attendance were key political figures, including the representative of the Lagos State Government, while the Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, sent his goodwill message, commending the celebrant’s unwavering dedication to peace, unity, and religious leadership in Ikorodu Division.
Senator, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA was ably represented by his Special Adviser to the Senator on Constituency Matters, Dr. Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle.
Similarly, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep Babajimi Benson, reflected on his long-standing relationship with the celebrant.

“I have known Baba for decades,” he said. “His wisdom has always been a guide, not just for me, but for many leaders and individuals in Ikorodu. He is someone whose counsel has shaped decisions and strengthened leadership across the division.
”He further pledged his support for the mosque rebuilding project, describing it as a critical legacy project that requires collective effort.“This project is not for one person; it is for the entire community. I am committed to supporting it and ensuring that it becomes a reality,” Benson added.
Religious leaders and members of the Council of Chief Imams and Alfas across Lagos State also graced the occasion, describing Sheikh Seifudeen Ademoritan Olowooribi as a unifying figure whose leadership has strengthened faith and harmony within the Muslim community.

In his response, the celebrant expressed gratitude to all dignitaries and attendees while making a remarkable pledge that further defined the purpose of the gathering.
“All the gifts and donations received for this celebration will be committed to the rebuilding of the mosque,” he stated. “This is not about personal celebration, but about service to Allah and the future of our community.
”The announcement was widely applauded, reinforcing his reputation as a selfless leader devoted to the advancement of Islam and community development.Midway into the event, attention shifted to the importance of collective responsibility, as speakers emphasised the need for unity and support towards meaningful initiatives that benefit the wider society.
