Following the rising incessant and worrisome criminal activities being recorded across Ikorodu division in recent times, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni has challenged traditional rulers and community heads across the division to expose the criminals within their domain.
Owoseni made this call at the palace of the paramount ruler of Ikorodu division, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, when he paid a working visit to the division, against the backdrop of recent militant and cultist attacks recorded in the division.
The latest among these criminal activities was the killing of an army captain, a DPO of Owutu police station and some residents at the Ishawo creeks in the division. Another worrisome incident was the gruesome murder of a family of three, father, mother and their only child, who was writing his WAEC examination, by criminals suspected to be members of the dreaded Badoo cult gang.
CP Owoseni challenged Ikorodu division traditional rulers to summon courage and support the efforts of the Nigerian police, in its desire to rid the division of criminals. He particularly accused some Baales and farmers of being spies to some of the militants.
Responding, Oba Kabir Shotobi assured the CP of the readiness of the Ikorodu traditional institution to support and cooperate with the police in order to stem the tide of criminalities in the division.
Meanwhile, Oba Ranodu of Imota, Oba Mudashir Ajibade Bakare has blamed the scourge of violent and criminal activities in the division, especially in Imota to challenges of urbanization. He also blamed the police for releasing suspected criminals, whenever such criminals are reported to the police.
