It was a day of encomiums and commendations for the MD/CEO of Ikorodu General Hospital, Dr Taiwo Hassan on Saturday, 1st January 2021 at the presentation of gifts to the ‘First Baby of the Year’ by the Ayangburen and Paramount ruler of Ikorodu Division, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi.
The brief reception and formal cutting of the new year cake ceremony organised in honour of the Ayangburen and his entourage suddenly turned into a celebration of the dynamic leadership of Dr Taiwo Hassan and his Hospital Management Committee.
In his brief address at the event, Oba Shotobi commended the dynamic leadership of Dr Hassan which he said was evident in the series of transformations being witnessed in the hospital.
‘I recently returned from a medical trip abroad and I visited one of the best hospitals in the US, Luke’s University Hospital. I can categorically and confidently say that this hospital is equivalent to what I saw in the US. With what I am seeing here today at Ikorodu General Hospital, starting from the reception, to the clean environment and excellent service, this is an hospital we can be proud of’.
Oba Shotobi noted that, ‘appearance is the first letters of recommendation. Right from the corridor to the reception and wards, I am impressed with what I am seeing and I felt encouraged to come into the facility. Today has granted me an opportunity of a first-hand report of your excellent leadership and performance. I am very impressed proud of Dr Taiwo Hassan. He is a round peg in a round hole ‘, the monarch added.
The Ayangburen concluded by praising the Deputy M.D, Dr Femi Aletan and entire members of the Ikorodu General Hospital Management Committee for supporting Dr Hassan in his giant strides.
In his remarks, IKODASS Chairman, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo congratulated mothers of the new- borns. He also alluded to the fact that the large number of new borns presented to the visiting team was an evidence that the Ikorodu General Hospital team is doing excellently well.
Also, Baale of Ojogbe, Chief Olomo noted that the progress being witnessed at the Ikorodu General Hospital was a testimony to the existence of a functional team.
Similarly, a former Deputy M.D of the Hospital, Dr Idowu commended the Ayangburen for supporting the emergence of Dr Hassan as the MD of the hospital, noting that the great transformations being witnessed in the hospital was as a result of Oba Shotobi’s quality decision.
He concluded by appreciating Dr Hassan for making him, the Kabiyesi and others who supported his emergence proud.
Responding to the avalanche of commendations, Dr Hassan noted that the event was not for speech making but just a short reception to welcome the Paramount ruler to Ikorodu General Hospital and to present the first baby of the year to him.
‘We are just beginning, the sky will not be able to limit us. And to the wonderful staffs of this Hospital, I thank you all and say Happy New Year to you. Today is not a day of long speeches, we are here to receive Kabiyesi and to present the first baby of the year to him and also to receive his blessings’.
Hassan further vowed to continue in the path of development and dynamic leadership he and his team are towing. He pledged to continue to perform excellently well and will continue to make Ikorodu Division proud.
Earlier, the Ayangburen and his team visited the Maternal & Child Section and presented gifts and cash to the baby of the year, Baby Ayodele who was born at exactly 12:01am.
The team equally presented gifts to the second baby of the year born at 9:18am, while cash gifts was presented to all the mothers in the wards.
