Though, Monday, 3rd January 2021 was a public holiday in Nigeria, the general atmosphere of Majidun-Ogolonto community was expectedly high, owing to the flag-off of the construction of Odubote Street link road, connecting Lagos Road to to the two communities by Hon Babajimi Benson, member representing Ikorodu federal Constituency at the House of Reps.
The entire community atmosphere was charged as residents, CDC members and party Chieftains endorsed Hon Benson for a third term in office.
Similarly, the Baales of the two communities- Majidun and Ogolonto added spice to the flag-off event by honouring the federal lawmaker with the titles of Atunluse of Ogolonto and Bawaselu of Majidun communities, respectively, noting that the project was the first federal government project in the entire Majidun Ogolonoto area.
A Community leader, Musiliudeen Olayemi commended Hon Benson for remembering the community and bringing democracy dividends to them. He equally pleaded with the lawmaker to ensure strict compliance to standards and quality delivery of the road through close monitoring.
Another community leader, Alh Olakitan noted that Hon Benson’s unprecedented performance, genuine care and concerns for party members across Ikorodu Division was overwhelming.
General Secretary of Temitayo CDA , Pastor E.A Adebayo also pleaded for a special consideration for drainage system along the axis so as not to negatively affect the planned road project.
Alh Adio Saka on behalf of the APC leaders in Ikorodu West LCDA expressed gratitude to Hon Benson, who he referred to as his learned colleague, for attracting the road project to the LCDA. He also stated that, Benson’s exemplary performance was a virtue he inherited from his late father.
Majidun-Ogolonto CDC Chairman, Mr I.B Raheem also commended Hon Benson for his tenacity and commitment to good governance and quality service delivery.
Ikorodu West APC Chairmen, Mr Bayo Lawson stressed that, going by the excellent performance of Hon Benson, there was no vacancy for the Ikorodu federal Constituency House of Reps seat in the 2023 general elections.
Responding, Hon Benson noted that, the decision to attract the road project to Majidun and Ogolonto Community was in response to the persistent demands by key stakeholders of the community.
‘We are here today in response to the massive demands by key stakeholders of the two communities for governnent presence in Majidun-Ogolonto communities. I will also like to commend the prompt response by the local government Chairman in submitting the road design within 24 hours after we requested for it’.
Hon Benson also stressed that, he would do all within his powers to ensure the delivery of quality road project, with accompanying street lights, which he noted would enhance the value of property in the community.
He concluded by promising that the road will be built with the latest interlocking block to ensure durability and endurance for trucks and lorries.
Councilor, representing Majidun Ogolonto Ward B, Hon Batife on behalf of the community assured Hon Benson and the contractors of peaceful atmosphere and cooperation from the community, particularly the youths throughout the duration of the road project.
