Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has declared tomorrow Tuesday, 20th August as public holiday, in commemoration of the 2024 Isese Day celebration.
Isese Day celebration is a day set aside for traditional and indigenous religious worshippers to commemorate the celebration of traditional religion and culture.
The annual Isese Day public holiday was approved by Sanwo-Olu in 2023 to allow staff of Lagos State government who are devotees of traditional religion, to observe their festival without any fear.
According to the Governor, the declaration of public holiday for traditional religious worshippers in the State is a way of recognizing the traditional worshippers with a view to giving them a sense of belonging like the Christian and Islamic bodies.
The declaration of the 2024 ‘Isese Day’ public holiday celebration was made public today, through a circular shared among civil servants in the State.

It is here by notified for general information that, this year’s Isese Day Celebrations will hold on Tuesday, 20th August, 2024.
In emphasizing commitment to give necessary support to traditional institutions as well as enhance the promotion of indigenous tradition by preserving cultural heritage, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved that, Tuesday, 20th August, 2024, be declared a Work-Free Day for Public Servants in the State.
Aside from that, Sanwo-Olu approved the date for the traditional worshippers to preserve traditional and cultural heritage of the state.
