YULETIDE: PASTOR DEBOLA MACPRINCE CHARGES IKORODU RESIDENTS ON LOVE, GIVING AND SHARING AS THE HALLMARK OF THE SEASON

Senior Pastor of one of Ikorodu’s leading new generation churches,  Pastor Debola MacPrince of the Builder and Maker Church, Ikorodu has charged residents of on the need to imbibe the spirit of Christmas,  which is exemplified by love, giving and sharing with others from the little we have.

Pastor MacPrince gave the charge in her brief exhortation at the 2018 edition of the Church’s annual Christmas Carol Service and distribution of rice to the less privileged residents of Ikorodu community.

Over 1, 000 residents, majorly aged women and widow drawn from different parts of the community benefited from the ministry’s benevolence, through the distribution of over 1, 000 bags of 5kg rice.

MacPrince also admonished the beneficiaries on the importance of love and sharing, ‘I want to urge you to share the little you have with others. It can be one or two cups, just make sure you share. If it is one bottle of drinks, please share. Make sure nobody celebrates this Christmas in hunger’, she said.

In her short message, titled, What is Christmas? Pastor MacPrince noted that Jesus was the reason for Christmas celebration, encouraging the attendees to embrace Him as their Lord and Saviour. She added that, Jesus was the Helper of the Helpless and is capable of meeting their diverse needs, if they accept Him.

The passionate woman of God added that, as someone who has tasted poverty, there was a time in her life that her family could not afford to eat rice for two years, due to poverty, she could relate with the plight of the poor and needy in the society.

‘There was a time we could not afford to eat rice in my family for two good years. We were so poor then. But, during my youth service in Lagos, God spoke to me that He would bless me. He however instructed me to always remember to share with the poor, from whatever he blessed me with’ she said.

Speaking further, she noted that, ‘we are not giving because, we have so much but, we are giving as a way of demonstrating God’s love to the poor so that they too can extend God’s love to their neighbours, no matter how small. That is why I advised them to share at least, one ‘de rica’ cup from the 5kg we gave them with those in need around them’.

Earlier the Church drama group presented a short but interesting drama, while the Choir wowed the audience with melodious carol song renditions.
