
A retired Lagos State Head of Service, Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe, has stated that the biennial Ikorodu Division General Assembly has become a strategic platform for assessing the performances of public office holders from the Division.
Ogunlewe stated this yesterday at the Ikorodu Town Hall, during the pre-event press conference organized to create awareness about this year’s edition of the Division-wide assembly.
‘This media parley serves as a platform to interact with the gentlemen of the press on the 2026 Ikorodu Division General Assembly slated for Tuesday, 12th May, 2026’, he said.

‘Let me remind you that the Eminent Persons of Ikorodu Division (EPID) in 2024 held her Second biennial General Assembly during which our political office holders and Government functionaries gave account of their stewardship to the citizens of the Division. In the event, public office holders and individuals that distinguished themselves in their accomplishments and service delivery to the people were recognized and honoured with awards’, he added.
Ogunlewe equally stated that, during the programme, the performance score cards of public office holders and Corporate Social Responsibilities of corporate entities are showcased for the citizens to acknowledge and appreciate. It is more or less a compendium of their contributions to the progress of the Division in the past two (2) years.
The Chairman, 2026 Ikorodu Division General Assembly planning committee further noted that the 2024 edition of the assembly has started yielding positive results for the Division in different areas.

Some outcomes from the 2024 Assembly are already in progress, including plans for an annual boat regatta to boost tourism, the proposed establishment of a military hospital and command secondary school in Odogunyan, and ongoing urban renewal initiatives in collaboration with the Lagos State Urban Renewal Board.
He, however, assured that the 2026 Assembly will place stronger emphasis on follow-up mechanisms, improved stakeholder collaboration, and ensuring that resolutions are actively pursued beyond discussions.

He described the Assembly as a strategic platform for shaping the future of Ikorodu Division and called on residents and stakeholders to actively participate.
The Igbogbo born prince equally used the opportunity to announce that the 2026 General Assembly has been themed “DIVERSITY AND INCLUSIVE GOVERNANCE IN A DEMOCRATIC DISPENSATION: SETTING BOUNDARIES AND WEIGHING THE PROS AND CONS”.
He concluded by extending invitation, on behalf of EPID to people from the cross section of the Division representing various callings and backgrounds are invited to the General Assembly, from the Royal Fathers to Technocrats to Public Office Holders, Political Leaders, Corporate Bodies, Market Associations, Clubs and Community Development Associations (CDA) to be part of this year’s robust discourse.
