WORLD FOOD DAY: I’M SAD TO SEE MY CONSTITUENTS HUNGRY, REP BENSON GOES EMOTIONAL AT OCTOBER FOOD DISTRIBUTION TO THE LESS PRIVILEGED

The Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Defense and Member, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Babajimi Benson has expressed sore sadness seeing many of his constituents hungry.

Rep Benson made the emotion-laden remarks shortly after distributing 500 Food Bags, containing groceries and raw foodstuffs to about 500 beneficiaries during the Monthly I-Care Food Bank outreach, organized through his I-Care Foundation at his Constituency Office in Ikorodu on Saturday, to commemorate the 2023 World Food Day.

‘I am sad to see people hungry and vulnerable. Though we are doing our best to provide food support for them, but my real wish is that they should also be the ones giving people food as well, not the other way round ‘, he said.

Benson, equally hinted that his foundation would be collaborating with the Renewed Hope Foundation of the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a mega food intervention in December.

He equally noted that he recently met with the Management of Arab Contractors, the firm handling the construction of Ikorodu-Sagamu Road on the need to fastrack the completion of the road.

‘We are also going to make sure that the Ikorodu-Sagamu Road project will be completed. I am thoroughly working on that. I met with Arab Contractors two days ago. I am talking to the appropriation people, I have seen it and I have worked on it. There is going to be provision for it in the supplementary budget’, he assured.

Earlier in his remarks at the food distribution, a former Executive Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Alh Fatiu applauded Rep Benson for sustaining the food bank initiative for many years, describing the initiative as one that is worthy of emulation.

Similarly, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ikorodu West LCDA Chapter, Very Rev’d Taiwo Ojo Oluwaseun praised Benson for putting smiles on the faces of his people.

‘ I must confess that, I personally came here today to see things for myself because I don’t want to be deceived. I am highly impressed with what I saw here today. Not all our politicians are doing this. shows that he is doing something good for his people and the people really appreciate it. My message to Hon Benson is that he should not relent. He should continue to do more.

Other community leaders and party chieftains in attendance were full of commendations for the caring heart initiative of Rep Benson across all sectors of Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
