STRANGE FIRE DESTROY GOODS AND PROPERTIES WORTH MILLIONS OF NAIRA AT EBUTE-IPAKODO

Tragedy struck at the wee hour of Thursday, 22nd February 2017 when residents of Ebute-Ipakodo woke up to the news of a mysterious fire which destroyed goods worth millions of Naira and completely razed down 4shops and a part of a restaurant along NBC / Ibeshe road.

An eye witness; Emmanuel Segun, who spoke to Ikorodu Oga Radio at the scene of the fire, stated that the fire might have started from a naked electric cable.

Another eye witness; Mrs Dehinde Olufisayo, who lives in the neighbourhood said her attention was called to the incident by the General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency; LASEMA, who is her former neighbour at about 5:40am on the morning of the incident.

Though investigation into the real cause of the fire is still ongoing, but some residents who are very familiar with the area told the premier online radio off record that the fire could possibly have  started at one of the shops which was converted to a white garment prayer house, where worshipers light candle sticks over night. Some of the sympathizers also revealed that it was possible that some of the spiritual perfumes and incense in the shop could have helped to ignite and spread the fire to the other shops.

One shop owner, who was too sad to speak, and whom people said took delivery of bags of food stuffs the night before the morning fire broke out was seen trying to salvage what was left of the ruins in his shop.

But for the timely arrival of the men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), who rushed to the scene of the inferno, the fire would have razed down the whole building and possibly affect others too.

Recall that LASEMA had last weekend  raised alarm over recurring fire disasters in the state, saying that about 50 incidents were recorded in the state and environs.
