Rep Babajimi Benson yesterday, played host to the Nasrulahi Fathi Society of Nigeria, otherwise known as NASFAT, Ikorodu Branch for the group’s Ramadan Prayer and Public Lecture.
The leading Islamic body organized the special Ramadan Prayer in honour of Rep Member, who is also the Chairman House of Reps Committee on Defence.
The special prayer was graced by about 500 members of the group from across various parts of Ikorodu Division.
Fadilat Sheikh al Khalifah Buhary Yahaya Salaty (Khalifah-Ameerul Jaish), Guest Lecturer at the event during his admonition on the topic “Keeping Fit and Healthy: An Islamic Perspective”, highlighted various ways to lead a healthy lifestyle in alignment with the Islamic beliefs. They included consuming nutritious foods, wearing appropriate clothing, engaging in physical activities and participating in activities that promote overall well-being.
According to Engr Adeniyi Oladunjoye, Chairman NASFAT Ikorodu branch, the body organized the prayers and Ramadan Public Lecture in honour of Benson for his numerous contributions towards the growth and development of Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
Speaking on the current economic situations in the country, Oladunjoye noted that, no matter how hard the situation of the nation was, Nigerians should dwell more on God’s grace in this season, so as to insulate themselves from the negative effects of the current economic hardship.
He equally charged Nigerians, particularly Muslim faithfuls to ensure that they live within their means and not put themselves under unnecessary pressure.
He concluded by admonishing Islamic faithfuls to show love to their neighbors by sharing the little they have with others, in the spirit of Ramadan, which is synonymous to giving and sacrifice.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Hon Jimi Benson, who was ably represented by the Director-General of I-Care Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, thanked NASFAT for their show of love and support.
Similarly, Benson also used the medium to urge Muslim faithfuls to continue to pray for the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
To demonstrate his appreciation to the body and support for her activities, the federal lawmaker pledged handsomely towards procurement of state-of-the art facility to the NASFAT Health Centre, Ikorodu.
A major highlight of the prayer and public lecture was the distribution of over 500 food packs to the Muslim faithfuls for the on-going Ramadan fast.
