ECONOMIC HARDSHIP: U.K BASED NIGERIAN PHILANTHROPIST URGES NIGERIANS IN DIASPORA TO EXTEND SUPPORT TO NIGERIANS AT HOME

There is no better way for patriotism to be expressed other than through undivided and sincere attachment to one’s father land and by lending a helping hand to compatriots in times of hardship.

This were the words of Mrs. Abidemi Oladipo, a UK based Nigerian and founder of ABIOLAD Foundation.

The philanthropist has cut the mustard of devotion by expressing sheer compassion to the often neglected People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) in Ikorodu Division, through distribution of food packs to the special people.

Oladipo, through her foundation, the ABIOLAD Foundation on Friday 22nd March, 2024 in a show of compassion distributed over 50 food packs and cash support of One Thousand Naira to the community of people living with disabilities across Ikorodu Division.

The beneficiaries were drawn from the community of the physically challenged, albinos, dwarfs, blind and deaf.

While speaking at the event which held at the Local Government Secretariat, she revealed that the ABIOLAD Foundation was established in remembrance of the ever caring and unrelenting benevolence of her father, who spent the most of his life caring for sick and disabled individuals, hence the reason for the outreach.

She also highlighted that “going abroad does not entail enjoying oneself alone, but also demands that one brings support to indigenes of one’s hometown, especially in a time of economic hardship, like this.”
It is therefore sad to note that many Nigerians in Diaspora do not extend camaraderie to fellow Nigerians abroad, let alone bestowing support on vulnerable Nigerians at home, especially at this time.

Mrs Abidemi Oladipo has led the pack a 4th time, through her timely display of benevolence.

Prior to Saturday’s event, the ABIOLAD Foundation had distributed wheelchairs to disabled individuals in Ikorodu division twice and have gone further to sponsor Miss Kasumu Aminat, a special student of Ikorodu Grammar School with cash and educational supplies, setting a new standard for Nigerians based abroad.

Beneficiaries of the outreach were more than elated that they had been remembered, especially at a time of hardship like this and further encouraged the ABIOLAD Foundation not to relent in its good works, as they enjoyed the initiative.

The ABIOLAD Foundation Team also visited Abule-Eko Primary School On behalf of the students of the School for Special Children, Abule-eko, beneficiaries of the second phase of the outreach, carer, Mrs Ajibade and other teachers, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the foundation for remembering and supporting the special children with the food items distributed, starting that it will go a long way to foster hope for a brighter tomorrow.

The outreach was commended by the Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, who was ably represented by Honourable Lateef Oyefusi, Supervisor Budget/Revenue and the SLG assuring the foundation of the local government’s support, an assurance of more strategic initiatives to come.
