LASG ADOPTS ASA CULTURAL CARNIVAL AS AN ANNUAL STATE CULTURAL EVENT

Efforts of Hon Sanai Agunbiade, popularly called SOB and the Ikorodu Rebirth Foundation IREP  to beam global searchlight on the tourism and cultural potentials of Ikorodu Division has started yielding positive results as the Lagos state government has formally adopted the cultural carnival as an annual cultural event in the state.

A major highlight of the maiden edition of the carnival was the presentation of certificate of registration of Asa carnival as an annual cultural festival in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State. This is was done by Hon.(Mrs) Adebimpe Akinsola Ag. Commissioner for Tourism, Arts & Culture, on behalf of the Lagos state governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.

Justifying the reason for the recognition and adoption of Asa by the state government, Hon Akinsola state that, ‘this is a fulfillment of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s promise during his swearing-in ceremony in 2015, to harness the tourism and sport potentials of the state to project the state as a tourism destination in Nigeria’.

Speaking further, Akinsola said, ‘I am delighted to formally present the c rtificate of recognition and adoption of Asa cultural carnival as an annual state cultural event in the state. I say a big congratulations to all Ikorodu sons and daughters, especially our own brother and initiator of this carnival, Hon SOB Agunbaide, for this great feat’, she submitted.
