LAMBO-LASUNWON ROAD FLAG-OFF: MAYOR DEEN SANWO-OLA APPEALS TO PROPERTY OWNERS TO BE CONSIDERATE IN INCREASING RENTAL COSTS

Following the flag-off of the 1.6 Kilometer Lambo-Lasunwon Road project by Rep Babajimi Benson today, the Director-General of I-Care Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola has appealed to property owners not to make life difficult for tenants when the road project is completed and their property value appreciates.

Deen, who is also the Executive Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Parks and Gardens spoke against the backdrop of fears by some concerned individuals who feared that rental costs of property in the community will go up once the road project is completed.

He said, ‘Nigeria run a capitalist economy, when landlords find out that their property has appreciated, they will want to demand for more value. It is you tenants I will advise to also ensure you find value by taking advantage of the improved value of the environment in your business, this is how prosperity goes round’.

‘Am not going to tell the landlord not to obtain value from the value that is being will just implore them not to kill these peoole. Tamper Justice with mercy. You can increase your rent, but don’t be unreasonable. Don’t chase people out of your life so that you can bring in a new person in order to collect new rents. Don’t try to put people under pressure by making them suffer due to increased rental value. The reason why we are doing what we are doing is to improve the quality of lives and when you start chasing people out, you then make them to suffer’, he added.

He concluded by charging the youths in the community to ensure they cooperate and give maximum support to the contractor, warning that the project can be moved elsewhere if they disturb the job of the contractor.
