IKORODU NORTH LCDA CHAIRMANSHIP: HON SHUKURA ADEWUNMI-OKEOWO PICKS NOMINATION FORM, DENIES WITHDRAWING FROM THE RACE

A top female contender for the office of the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA in the forthcoming Lagos Local government election, Hon (Mrs) Shukura Adewunmi-Okeowohas denied stepping down from the chairmanship race, as been touted in some quarters.

Hon Okeowo, a former Sole Administrator of the LCDA, former Councillor and 2-term Supervisory Councillor in the LCDA stated this in an exclusive chat with Ikorodu Oga Radio.

The grassroots politician stated that the rumour about her withdrawal was the machination of some disgruntled elements whose stock in trade is to misinform the good people of Ikorodu North LCDA ahead of the party’s primaries, slated for May 29.

Okeowo added that, as the only female aspirant in the race for the party’s ticket in the LCDA, it will be unfair of her to disappoint the women folks as well as her numerous supporters across the length and breadth of the council, should she withdraw.

‘It is the wish of some people that I withdraw, having started smelling defeat but, I am happy to announce that, I am still very much in the race. I am a serious minded grassroots politician with massive followership. I had consulted widely before joining the race, how can I now suddenly withdraw from the race without recourse to my political leaders and followers’, she asked.

The female politician who is also the daughter of the APC Apex leader in Ikorodu North LCDA, wondered how she can withdraw from the race, after picking the party’s nomination form just few days back.

She further appealed to her teeming supporters to remain calm and remain unshaken in their love and support for her aspiration to bring succor to the good people of Ikorodu North LCDA.
