IKORODU LOCAL GOVERNNENT CHAIRMAN, HON ADESHINA PRESENTS N1, 949, 065, 849.80 BILLION BUDGET OF NEW BEGINNING FOR 2022 FISCAL YEAR

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu local government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina had presented the 2022 budget proposal tagged, ‘Budget of New Beginnings’ to the Councillors.

Adeshina made the presentation on behalf of the executive council, promising the delivery of many more democratic dividends to residents of the local council in 2022.

After reviewing and deliberating upon the Income and expenditures of the council in 2021, Adeshina presented a total of One Billion, Nine Hundred and Forty Nine Million, Sixty Five Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty Nine Naira, Eighty kobo
(# 1, 949, 065, 849.80) before his councillors in the presence of the council stakeholders in Ikorodu comprising of political leaders, community stakeholders, council staffs and members of the press.

The budget funding and sources was broken down as follows; N420,147,459.55 Federal Statutory Allocation, Value Added Tax (VAT) N1,232,862,162.18, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) at N105,000,000; State Coordinated Revenue was.projected at N25,000,000 with a proposed loan of N170,056,228.07.

According to the Council boss, the loan sum is optional, subject to availability of funds. He noted that, while the year 2021 also provided for loan, the council did not have to obtain the loan.

Explaining further the Hon Adeshina explained as follows; Personnel cost, N384,594,402.50; Teachers salary, N395,127,475.81, while statutory rebates stand at N116, 259, 474.15; Overhead cost, N485,050,524.03; Social Services Projection N14,000,000 and Non-Current Asset, N554,033,973.31.

Hon Adeshina also gave an insight into some of the projects to be embarked upon by his administration in the fiscal year.

On Education, he listed the rebuilding of Salvation Army Pry School, Fencing of Aga Pry School, Bursary to indigent Students & GCE Forms and general facelift of Primary Schools in the council area.

On Health, he noted that the council will be
refurbishing the Ita-elewa PHC, overhauling and facelift of Agura PHC and sustenance of the existing drugs revolving support to all PHCs.

On infrastructure, Adeshina listed, the following projects;
-Surfacing of Arowolo Str, Itunpate
-Surfacing of Otambala Str, Aga
-Reconstruction of Dada Street & Agunbiade Street, Itunpate
-Reconstruction of Solomade Street, behind Ayangburen Palace.

Others are; Resurfacing of Kokoro-Abu, Pashoku and Itundegun Streets
-Resurfacing of roads within the Secretariat Complex & General Landscaping of the environment
-Grading of Mowo-Nla to Gberigbe
-Upgrading of Customary Court and Area Office Buildings
-Purchase of three (3) additional revenue vehicles
-Purchase of Coaster Staff Bus
-Three Boreholes, Itun Liwe, Itunwolo and -Construction of a befitting Legislative House for the Councillors

On Welfare, the council proposed the followings;
-Purchase of Official Vehicles for Councillors and Some Staffs -Quarterly empowerment programmes for members of Staff among other initiatives.
