As part of his efforts to engage youths in gainful ventures through sports and recreational activities, Governor Akinwumi has promised to commission a 4,000 seater capacity stadium in Ikorodu division within the next one year.
This was made known by the Chairman, Ikorodu Divisional Footbal Association; Alhaji Shonibare at a press briefing and stakeholders forum held praparatory towards the much touted Peace Cup in Ikorodu, which will kick off later this month.
The IDFA Chairman disclosed that the information was obtained first hand from the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports Development in the State; Mr Deji Tinubu, who was in attendance during the Easter All Star Soccer Fiesta, which held in Ikorodu last month. He further stated that the Governor has also promised to give attention to the Igbogbo stadium within the same period.
He however appealed to Governor Ambode to include facilities for other games in his plan for the stadium, in order to give opportunity for talent development in other sports.
According to the Special Adviser to Governor Ambode on Sport; Deji Tinubu, the 4,000 seater stadium capacity will be built within the Lagos State Polytechnic campus, Ikorodu.
