The newly elected President of the Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Engr H.O.B Lawal has admonished business executives operating in Ikorodu division to embrace the art of giving back to their host community, through corporate social responsibility, as a way of contributing to the development of the community.
Engr Lawal made this known at the maiden IKODASS Business Cocktail held at the banquet hall of the Ayangbure palace on Friday, 2nd November, 2018.
In his remarks at the event, Engr Lawal stated that, ‘Businesses operating in Ikorodu must embrace the art of giving back to the community where they operate from. No matter how little, we must give back something from profits we make from doing business in the community. A little drop of water can become a mighty ocean’, he said.
Earlier, in his welcome address to the business stakeholders at the maiden cocktail, Chairman of Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Otunba Ganiyu Address stressed that the cocktail was conceived to bridge the gap between stakeholders from Ikorodu’s business sector and the community, through IKODASS.
A major highlight of the event was an interactive session between the business executives and the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ikorodu leaders and chiefs on some of the challenges they are facing in doing business in Ikorodu.
Some of the corporate executives also gave suggestions on how the community and business executives can enter into partnership for the development of the business environment and Ikorodu community as a whole.
Some of the guests at the occasion were, Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, his counterpart from Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Hon Jimi Benson, member, House of Reps, Aremo of Ikorodu, Aremo Adeniyi Ogunsanya and Agba Akin of Ikorodu, Chief Ayodele Elesho.
Others include the executive secretary Ikorodu Economic Summit Group, Prof Bawa-Allah, president, Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Engr H.O.B Lawal and a environment expert, Mr Amidu Kunle Oduborisha among other distinguished guests.
