I AM FACILITATING ROAD CONSTRUCTIONS TO PUT SMILES ON THE FACES OF MY CONSTITUENTS- HON JIMI BENSON

The member, representing Ikorodu federal Constituency at the house of Reps, Hon Babajimi Benson has disclosed that he is currently facilitating road constructions across Ikorodu federal Constituency as a way of putting smiles on the faces of his Constituents.

Hon Benson disclosed this in a chat with Ikorodu Oga Radio after he inspected the level of work done on the on-going rehabilitation of five connecting roads around Sabo area of Ikorodu town.

Hon Benson, who was joined in the inspection tour of the roads by a retinue of politicians, serving local government Chairmen and some APC flagbearers in the forthcoming Local government elections in the State also disclosed that he will soon flag off more road projects in the community.

‘As a legislator, I have gone round my Constituency to engage my people. Most of the request I receive everywhere I go has been on road infrastructure. As a responsible representative, I have to respond to their yearnings by facilitating road projects to the affected areas. I am still going to do more for them. We shall soon be flagging off more road projects in other areas as well’, he said.

‘The five roads are Ayanbadejo, Ajoke Oduyebo, Nike Olubodu and Kas Avenue areas around Sabo / Shamsel Deen Grammar School area of Ikorodu. The roads are also to serve as link roads and short cuts to Adeniran Ogunsanya / Sabo road and Itoikin-Ijebu Ode roads.

Hon Benson noted that he decided to visit the site as a way of putting pressure on the contractor to intensify work on the road construction.

‘Whenever I facilitate any project, I always like to visit the sites to monitor the pace of work. I do this to put pressure on the contractors working on the projects so that they can deliver withing the stipulated time frame’, he said.

‘We will be commissioning this road in July. And we will be bring the Governor, who is the Chief Infrastructural Officer of the State to commission these roads. The Governor had been doing very well in terms of brining Infrastructure to Ikorodu. We will also bring him here so that he can also attract some other projects to these areas’, he added.

Meanwhile, the Chief Imam of Oriwu Central Mosque and a community leader in the area, Sheikh Yahaya Osoala (a.k.a Assamadani) who joined Hon Benson to inspect the road projects has commended the federal legislator for bringing succour to residents of the areas who had been facing challenges in commuting in the areas.

‘Hon Jimi Benson is a God-sent saviour to Ikorodu community. We have had several other people occupied this same position in the past but, Jimi who I refer to as a ‘small boy’ is unique. He is a responsible representative’.

Sheikh Osoala also charged residents of the area to take responsibility for the road and ensure it is well maintained.

Sheikh Osoala also promised to ‘call on all on the three CDAs in this Community like we did when the project was flagged off, I will call them and we will all ensure the security and maintenance of these roads is taking’.

‘We have the largest school population in this community before the breaking of primary schools. We have not been having easy access to this school. Teachers, inspectors, government officials and students have not been able facing difficulties in accessing the schools. Accessing our eid praying ground where about half of Ikorodu Muslims prayed has equally been stressful, that is why we will continue to thank Jimi for coming to our rescue’, he concluded.

Similarly, the CDA Chairman of Ayanbadejo Ayele, Otunba Rasheed Aleshinloye commended Hon Benson for facilitating the road projects. He also assured that the CDAs in the area will will work in collaboration for the maintainance of the roads.
