FAULTY STREET LIGHTS: IKORODU AMBASSADORS FOUNDER, RASHEED FATUGA WRITES GOV. SANWO-OLU

Few days to the end of the tenure of the incumbent Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and barely some days to his formal inauguration for a second term in office, a key Ikorodu Division stakeholder, grassroots mobilizer and Founder of Ikorodu Ambassadors Group, Comrade Rasheed Fatuga has written an open letter to the Lagos State Number 1 Citizen on the bad state of street lights across major roads in Ikorodu Division.

While Fatuga appreciated the Governor for his giant strides in improving infrastructures in the State, particularly in the area of scaling up current street lights into smarter and more efficient LEDs, he however appealed to him to urgently address the faulty street lights, due to the security implications it has on the entire Community.

The Open Letter is hereby reproduced below;

Dear Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu

Trust you’re doing good sir?
Congratulations on your re-election,
May Almighty God give you the strength to carry on.

Sir, As part of your commitments in transforming the Lagos business terrain into a smart city, you concluded arrangements towards replacing the existing street lighting system into a smarter and more efficient LED street light and also made sure that all the newly constructed roads in Lagos comes with Street lights, which Lagosians appreciate.

But in Ikorodu, all the road lights are not working (Existing and New) most especially on Obafemi Awolowo Road
(From Ota-Ona to Itamaga) and on Itamaga-Ijede Road (That’s from Itamaga to Elepe).

Due to this, armed robbery, kidnapping, ritual killings, murders and other related crimes has increased.

We all are aware that as Lagos State evolves to a Smart City, the utilisation of smart and energy efficient streetlights is vital in ensuring improved government service delivery in areas of security of lives and property of Lagosians and environmental sustainability.

Help us correct this anomaly sir.
May Almighty God crown all your efforts and reward you bountifully.

Eagerly waiting your response.
Ìgbégà Ìpínlẹ Èkó, Àjúmọsé Gbògbó wà ní

Yours faithfully,
Rasheed Adedeji Fatuga,
Founder @ Ikorodu Ambassadors Group.
