EPID GETS IKORODU DIVISION MONARCHS’ NOD TO HOST SECOND EDITION OF IKORODU DIVISION GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND AWARD CEREMONY

Ikorodu Division Council of Obas and Chiefs today, 23rd March gave its nod and approval to the Liaison Group of Eminent Persons of Ikorodu Division (EPID) to host the second edition of Ikorodu Division General Assembly and Award Ceremony, organized by the Liaison EPID.

The Liaison Group of EPID, chaired by Sir Engr R.O Shoderu represented by the Planning Committee Chairman, Alh Babatunde Tajudeen Rotinwa got the endorsement of the royal fathers at their monthly council meeting held at the conference hall of Ikorodu Local Government secretariat.

Briefing the monarchs on the preparedness of the Committee to host the event, Rotinwa stated that, plans were in top gear to host the second edition of its Ikorodu Division General Assembly and Award Ceremony.

He explained that the General Assembly, which was first hosted in 2022 serves as a platform for assessing the performance of Government Institutions, Public Office Holders and Corporate Organizations, operating within the Division.

Rotinwa, a former Lagos State Head of Service added that the group would also be demanding for score cards of performance from elected and appointed public office holders.

According to him, social and community impact initiatives or contributions to community development would also be demanded from leaders of transport unions, market leaders and other formal and informal service institutions across Ikorodu Division.

He stressed that the group has started consultations with critical stakeholders and government functionaries towards hosting a successful event.

The former Chairman of the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission also used the medium to brief the traditional rulers about the recently commissioned 250 capacity CBT Centre sponsored by the IDRDG to give Ikorodu Division students access to computer education while also preparing them for computer-based examinations.

Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota who responded on behalf of other royal fathers at the meeting commended EPID for holding government institutions, public office holders and corporate bodies accountable through the Ikorodu Division General Assembly.

He however requested, on behalf of his colleagues that the CBT Centre be replicated across major Ikorodu Division communities as a way of increasing access to indigent students, particularly those who live in far distance.

The General Assembly and Award Ceremony will hold on 23rd May, 2024 at Ikorodu Town Hall.

Members of the planning committee on the delegation were Alh Tunde Olowookere, the Committee’s Director of Publicity, Arakunrin Kazeem Showemimo and the Committee’s Publicity & Media Consultant, Omo’ba ‘Peju Akinyemi.

Others who could not attend the meeting but played active roles behind the scenes were a retired Lagos State Head of Service and Vice Chairman of the Committee, Aremo Adesegun Ogunlewe, Alh Kudirat Lamina, Mrs O.O.T Benson, Mr Austen T. Oduloye and the Committee Secretary, Mr Faruk Giwa.
